What we offer.
At Agapanthus it is our mission to seek Beauty. Every day. In creating a wine program, my motivation is to provide delicious wines our customers can enjoy and feel good about sharing as gifts. I turned to my friend and wine expert Sarah Belyeu (pictured), who understanding our mission, steered me in the direction of organic and natural wines. Choosing from the vast universe of wines, it only makes sense for us to present wines that are not only full of flavor and represent a good value, but are made with organic, natural, and/or biodynamic practices, many from small family-owned farms; something you won't find on grocery store shelves.
Why organic wine?
The better question may be why would you want anything else? Organic wine is made from grapes that are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), or added sulfites. Organic certification standards vary from country to country, but in general, organic winemakers use natural methods to promote vine health and manage pests and diseases.
By choosing organic wine, you not only support environmentally friendly agricultural practices, but you also have the opportunity to enjoy wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the terroir where the grapes are grown. Many organic winemakers strive to produce wines that express the true flavors of the grapes and the specific region they come from, and take great personal pride in doing so.
We carefully select wines made by well-established wineries from Europe, some hundreds of years old that never "modernized" their practices, as well as newer vineyards South Africa, New Zealand, and California. All are tasted in house and chosen for flavor and value prior to claiming a space on our shelves.
Whether you prefer red, white, rosé, or sparkling wine, there's a good chance you can find an organic option that suits your taste. And of course at Agapanthus, we have a full compliment of decanters and stemware from our top brands - much of it made by hand - to pair for enjoying your favorite wines or to create that fabulous gift. So sit back, relax, and savor wine from Agapanthus knowing that it is flavorful, high quality, and made with care for both your enjoyment and the environment.
