The Story Behind Tula

Tula's founder Alice Eichelman's family has a history of skin cancer, so finding reliable sun protection was a personal mission for her. She needed a hat that would provide natural shade and comfort while helping prevent sun damage, knowing other gardeners, sun lovers, and anyone that spends time outdoors would appreciate that same level of sun protection.

After exploring options with commercial hat factories in Mexico, they were introduced to a village with a rich tradition of handweaving palm straw hats. The artisans there have been crafting durable, breathable palm hats for over 400 years.
